Knowledge and technology, going beyond time to connect
We, the generation who are alive today, only exist because of the lives of our predecessors in their own generations. The things that go beyond time and connect us back to their lives are called cultural properties. These items, such as statues that became the the spiritual and the revered, beautiful pictures that echoed in the hearts of those who saw them, important historical records, are filled with memories. Restoration of cultural property is not just repairing and leaving things for our antecessors, but rather in pulling out a varietty of information it becomes an act that connects people and generations, and is full of hints that live in our current society.
This four year course includes the education in the fields of painting restoration (eastern and western), 3-D item restoration, and preservation studies. Here you can partake in specialized learning at Japan's first ever cultural property conservation research center affiliated with a university, and get actual experience from research to restoration.
